We are happy to present the first episode of the Maximum Jailbreak podcast, featuring Benedict Singleton, who first introduced the Maximum Jailbreak meme.

In a perceptive 2013 essay titled “Maximum Jailbreak,” Benedict elaborated on the Cosmist drive to colonize space.

“This could be regarded as a jailbreak at the maximum possible scale, a heist in which the human species could steal itself from the vault of the Earth.”

Benedict’s essay is republished in “#ACCELERATE: The Accelerationist Reader” and Journal of the British Interplanetary Society (JBIS Vol. 67, 2014). See also the reviews “Benedict Singleton: The Accelerationist Cosmism of Nikolai Fedorov,” and "Maximum Jailbreak, and the legacy of Stephen Hawking."

Listen to this fascinating conversation with Benedict, produced and hosted by Suzi Bianco, Patrick Donovan, and Giulio Prisco. Among other topics, we cover the need for new waves of enthusiasm for space, the importance of design and media, and old/new narratives able to power our expansion into space.
